Bright Eyes Puts New Album on Hold for a Tour

By the time spring rolls around again next year (2007) we should be seeing a new Bright Eyes album flying off the shelves of your local record shop. In fact, we could see the album even sooner but the band has now made plans to step back from recording for a while and hit the road on a little tour across Canada. Well, we shouldn't say "across" Canada because they currently have no plans to play in any cities east of Toronto, but cross your fingers that things might change between now and the start of tour schedule.

You can catch Bright Eyes at these shows:
:: June 4 Victoria, BC @ Royal Theatre
:: June 5 Vancouver, BC @ Malkin Bowl (Stanley Park)
:: June 7 Edmonton, AB @ Reds
:: June 8 Calgary, AB @ MacEwan Hall
:: June 9 Saskatoon, SK @ Wheatlands
:: June 10 Winnipeg, MB @ Burton Cummings Theatre
:: June 13 London, ON @ Centennial Hall
:: June 14 Toronto, ON @ Massey Hall

Maybe those fans east of Toronto can try to convince the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN to move its scheduled date out from June 17 because Bright Eyes is expected to be there.

You can check out some older tracks of their albums "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning", "Digital Ash in a Digital Urn" and "Oh Holy Fool" from their MySpace site, which is maintained by Saddle Creek (label).

There are a lot of MP3s on the web that you can download for a sample. Here are a few that we found on the Saddle Creek website, remember they are for promotion use only... if you like what you hear support the artist.

Liverpool, UK new wave/electro group Ladytron land in Canada on their North American, selective city tour. After stops in New York (April 15th), Philadelphia (April 16th) and Boston (April 17) the group have crossed the boarder to play sold-out shows tonight in Montreal at Club Soda and tomorrow (April 20th) in Toronto at the Opera House. The Liverpudlian's will be joined by Sydney, Austalia's indie electro group The Preset along the way.

Sheffield, England's The Long Blondes have recently signed a long term deal to be part of the Rough Trade label family. This is the same label that carries bands such as Bell & Sebastian, Arcade Fire and The Strokes. You can listen to many of their singles that were released previous on their MySpace site.

We know this is a little early to announce, but once we got word of the news that Athlete is now in the process of recording their third LP we just couldn't hold back. The new album is expected to be available sometime in 2007. The last album Tourist was a great piece of work so any news about a follow-up is worth reporting.

We were able to track down a couple of interviews with the Liverpudlian new wave group Ladytron (Helen Marnie, Daniel Hunt, Reuben Wu, and Mira Aroyo).
