The Architects Grab Our Attention

We were out looking for some details on some news regarding an indie band called The Architects from Kansas City, United States but ended up getting into a band from Ottawa, Canada with the same name. These "The Architects" have been quietly been touring lately in Canada and we thought they should get a little attention for a change. They are the definition of an independent artist, with no label under their belts, but I can't say that they will stay like that.

Here is the rest of their "Three Cities Screaming coast-to-coast tour" tour schedule, they just might we worth checking out if they are in your neighborhood (don't ask use why they call the tour 'Three Cities...' when there sure are hitting more places then that):

:: April 20 - Saint John, NB
:: April 21 - Charlottetown, PEI
:: April 22 - Moncton, NB
:: April 26 - Sydney, NS
:: April 26 - Sydney, NS
:: April 27 - Antigonish, NS
:: April 28 - Halifax, NS
:: May 01 - Ottawa, ON (FREE!)

FREE Show? Ottawa residence, now there is no excuse, no need to look for spare change in the sofa and no need to make any further plans for May 1st. Check out the bands tour schedule on the website for locations and other details.

For a little background on The Architects we can tell you this... they are four guys from Ottawa, Ontario Canada (but their website says there is a fifth) with a simple setup of guitar, bass, drums and keyboard.

:: Tyson Hiseler - bass guitar, vox
:: Trevor Strange - lead vox, guitars
:: Jamie Kronick - drums
:: Blair Hogan - guitars, vox, keys

After reading their bio on their website the most striking point that describes their music is that they "build their songs from the ground up, with no pretensions and no attempt at being conventional."

Don't take it from us, check out some sample from the indie rock band via their MySpace site. What would we do without MySpace? When we first heard the track entitled "I am listening so close" we first thought that Morrissey joined a rock band.

It looks like some new songs from the Kaiser Chiefs have leaked out into the public eye. Someone who was attending the bands concert in Glasgow on April 18th was able to capture some video of the guys playing unreleased material. Furthermore, the video snapper wanted to show off his/her rough talents by posting the video onto a video sharing website called YouTube. Despite the seriously bad quality in the video it will give Kaiser Chiefs fans a taste of what is to come from their next album.

The Nettwerk label just added a new member to the every growing family. It seems that the band The Format will release their next album in July 4th, just in time to for a long weekend in the United States. The guys are at Meachum Auditorium tonight in Norman, OK. Check out their MySpace page for some tracks.

John Vanderslice is in Toronto tomorrow evening for a show at the El Mocambo and we will be there. It looks like Sarah Liss NOW Magazine got to Mr. Vanderslice first and was even able to get a word or two out of him. More on the concert in Saturdays review.
